My Story

Ntokozo King's story may be similar to yours. A part of it, parts of it, or even all of it. When he was in grade 9, he failed terms 1 through to 3 of his academic year. One can imagine the devastation and possible disappointment he may have felt. Regardless, he managed to pass term 4 and overall, grade 9. When he was studying grade 10, he was assigned a leadership role in which he had to teach fellow classmates and ensure that they meet whenever they needed to.
Upon carrying this role out, his love for Mathematics and teaching blossomed beautifully. He began practicing actively and helping fellow classmates, friends and family members. Soon enough, in grade 11, he scored his first Mathematics distinction and was at his academic peak.
Upon taking a gap year in 2019, he continued helping those who needed help with Maths, filling the additional time he had with solving mathematical problems. The year 2020, was when his varsity career began. He stumbled upon a module and realized that the Maths standard differed from the high school standard he was familiar with. Therefore, he initially struggled. Eventually, he got the hang of it, got on his feet and continued helping high school learners. By 2022, Maths had become a norm for him and in 2023, an idea to make something out of his love for teaching settled in his mind. This is how passion budded and blossomed into an academy:
Pioneering Hearts Academy.
